News
Flirting with Finance has been featured across the print, radio, online and television media since its launch in April 2009.
The book was launched at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre in Melbourne. Anneli presented on the topic “The Global Financial Crisis: what every girl needs to know” before the launch as part of the women’s centre Women & Money financial literacy campaign.
Anneli and Virginia have also been presenting at women’s networking events and to premium banking clients speaking about the importance of women’s financial literacy in a way that is entertaining and inspires a call for women to take action in their investments (in a topic that risks being dull).
Anneli now writes a weekly personal finance blog for the Fairfax Media Network (The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Time and WA Today) that you can follow at http://blogs.theage.com.au/small-business/wellheeled.
Virginia write regularly for Women’s Weekly Online at http://aww.ninemsn.com.au/your-money and early in 2009 created video blogs on personal finance for the Fairfax Media Netork: http://media.smh.com.au/business/buying-back-in
SNIPPETS FROM BOOK REVIEWS
From Business Excellence, VECCI, Winter 2009:
The chapters read like they have been written by Carrie Bradshaw (after a crash course on finance, of course), encouraging first time investors through ‘scoping out the scene’ (aka passive income, capital growth, compound interest and more), ‘building up your little black book’ (aka working with financial planners and professionals) and ‘who are you attracted to?’ (aka shares or property?).
Overall, the feel of the book is fun, but never condescending to the target audience. Flirting with Finance is ideal for first-time investors, or as a gift for someone who needs an amusing and accessible finance lesson, and at $29.95 it is cost-effective investment.
From girl.com.au in April 2009:
Knight and Graham got started on Flirting with Finance, a book that takes readers through the important first-steps of realising goals, creating a plan and identifying investment opportunites, right through to understanding the economy, budgeting, credit, taxes and retirement.
This book also shows women that they don't have to be frightened by the words 'online trading', 'mortgage' or 'financial planning', instead, this book shows women how to be savvy, careful and clever with their money and how to plan for their future and reap the benefits of their hard work.
From InSytle Magazine in April 2009:
Talking finance, especially in this economic climate, is not a subject many women feel comfortable tackling. It can be extremely overwhelming, not to mention intimidating, trying to understand finance and its personal implications. That is why Anneli Knight and Virginia Graham's new book, Flirting with Finance is so great - it takes dry information and turns it into a fun, good read.
From frugalandthriving.com.au in June 2009:
If you’re more comfortable thumbing through the pages of Vogue than you are reading the Financial Review, if you can’t imagine chatting about the all ords, but dating and dieting are hot topics, then you will enjoy Flirting with Finance by Anneli Knight and Virginia Graham.
This book is a humorous introduction into the world of personal finance aimed squarely at women. The book uses topics that the “modern woman” will be familiar with: dating, fashion, dieting and of course flirting, to explain concepts in personal finance.
